Also known as gaming, it is the act of betting money on and event or even a game. There are many forms of betting, for instance, there are state lotteries, nickle and dime poker and slot machines. Each state has its own laws for gambling.
Not as often played is the racetrack wagering, which is not as popular at the lotteries and the casino gambling. Although the race track revenues are substantial, they are certainly less than the other two. It was noticed in the second half of this century that the racing gaming declined. Lotteries became the new thing and thus took the horse racing gamblers away. In this industry, the leaders felt they needed to change to stay competitive and so the electronic games were created.
The new machine was called Instant Racing and was introduced in the late 1990s by AmTote Corporation. Track operators found that to be able to survive they had to join the casino market. Slot machines and video poker terminals were then seen at the race tracks but many did not like it saying that the sport had been discredited. Today, the industry of racing holds just a small part of this past glory because of lack of racetrack attendance.
